Samsung S8300 Tocco Ultra Mobile Phone Review ? No Land Slide Victory

The current market isn?t too impressive, with a sense of monotony in the phones that are on offer. In the current day and age, it seems that they all have touch screens! Reviewing the new Samsung S8300 Tocco Ultra is like a breath of fresh air as it isn?t scared to deviate from the tried and tested touch-screen appeal.
So ? what do I mean? Well, the Tocco Ultra makes an interesting take on the touch-screen concept with a slide-out numerical keypad! It is an incredible surprise considering how slim the phone actually is.
The best of both worlds
It?s brilliant really that the Tocco Ultra has incorporated a keypad that slides out. Even though it is a very old school input method, it is excellent that the keypad hasn?t affected on the modern look of the phone. Plus, with the impractical nature of some typing methods on touch screens ? it is a breath of fresh air.
It?s a phone to boast about
Just reading through the specs which are in the instructions, you can see that Samsung built this phone with ?flagship? in mind ? the fact that it has an 8MP camera confirms this. It has video recording too, and the fact that you can edit the video on the phone adds Brownie Points.
What makes this phone stick out from the rest is the anti-reflection touch screen. It uses AMOLED technology which makes it a lot easier to see when you are out in the sunshine for example.
Not only does the Tocco Ultra have these definitive features and your standard stuff like GPS navigation, Bluetooth and email ? but it also boasts a scratch-resistant screen and metal casing which can really come in handy. The phone is durable which is brilliant because it prevents it from looking battered and bruised over time.
For a top-of-the-range phone, there are some letdowns…
Considering Samsung confirmed that the Tocco Ultra was to be flagship phone for 2009, there are some hiccups. Sure, it looks the part of a top-spec phone and with most aspects, it certainly plays the part, but it is missing some of the practical elements that would allow you to take full advantage of the phone?s capabilities.
A good example of this is the FM radio and music player. Together, they would have been the perfect way to integrate audio capabilities into the phone ? but the lack of a standard headphone jack means that you have to use the Samsung?s headphones, which is a bit of a letdown.
Also, it can be pretty hard to store all of the music you have on the disappointing 75MB of memory ? which equates to around 10 songs (and that is without the rest of your stuff!) You are more than likely to have to fork out for a microSD card which unusually isn?t included in the phone. This particular phone can have the memory expanded by this type of card by up to 16GB.
Lastly, it can be difficult to get the best use of email without the WiFi capabilities. But considering the phone has a 7.2Mbps capability when it comes to 3G connectivity, it isn?t that much of an issue.
It?s a good phone with more or less everything you would expect, as well as some nice extra features. However, these features cannot be used very well at times because of the lack of some key features.
It?s a great phone and the mix between touch-screen and traditional keypad is genius and doesn?t impact on the sassy look the Tocco Ultra has. The UI is good, as you would expect from a Samsung ? but there are some gaping holes in the phone?s capability which let down the practicality of the rest of the phone.
The Samsung S8300 Tocco Ultra is a very stylish and high feature phone with a price. Getting it in cheap mobilephone contract deal or in best Vodafone cashback offers is a good choice since they mostly have a good discount.
