VoIP Installation to Your SOHO Network

If you want to install VoIP into your office network or home, you can easily do this by just following simple instructions and making sure that all cable wires or Ethernet cables are properly connected. VoIP installation can be most beneficial to those who want to reduce much of their telephone bills especially on long distance calls. With voice over internet call, you can be able to reduce your phone bills by almost 75 percent. But first in order to be able to have this benefit you have to have the following things and here they are:

1. Cable or DSL modem
2. VoIP router or a VoIP phone adapter
3. Ethernet Wires
4. High Speed Internet Access
5. VoIP service subscription

Let us say these things are all acquired, the first thing you need to do for VoIP Installation is unplugging your modem and/or the router from the power supply and make sure all lights are turned off. Leave the modem plugged to your PC and the modem plugged to the telephone jack. Locate at the back of your modem the wire which goes to the back of your PC and unplug that wire. Remember, you do not have to turn off your PC while doing this.

Plug the wire you have removed from your PC into the back port of the VoIP router that is labeled ?Internet?. If there is no such label then you can plug this wire on any port of the VoIP router as long as the wire fits well. Some VoIP routers have many ports so make sure you plug the wire into the port that is marked Internet or WAN. If you are using a wireless broadband, do the same procedure.

For those who do not have a router in their network, they can connect their PCs into the Ethernet port of the VoIP routers by simply locating the PCs? Ethernet port and plugging it into the back of the VoIP router/adapter or LAN port. The modem, on the other hand must be connected to your VoIP router through their internet ports. The end result would be that, the PC is connected to the VoIP through the Ethernet port while the modem is connected to the VoiP port through the internet port.

When all the steps have been followed accordingly, you can now activate your network by following the procedures:

1. Plug the DSL modem into the electrical outlet until the light stabilizes and becomes solid which indicates internet connection.

2. Plug the VoIP router/adapter as well. Wait for the solid light that indicates solid connection.

3. The same goes for wireless router, plug into the power supply and wait for the internet light to turn solid.

4. You can now dial the activation phone number that is in the manual and enter the activation code which will be sent to you through your email. If the service provider forgot to send you the code, you can call them before dialing the activation number. You may be given only minutes to wait and then can have your VoIP service activated.
